Role Summary/Purpose: GE Healthcare is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (m/f) to join our global engineering team at our site in Freiburg im Breisgau. As a member of our team which is spread across two sites and composed from various nationalities you will build an enterprise-level cardiology information system that helps medical staff in hospitals around the world to increase patient's care.

Essential Responsibilities:

You will work as a member of an Agile/Scrum team and develop features against user requirements raised by our global product management team based in the US. The results of our sprints will be presented back to our key stakeholders such as application specialists and software service teams who globally implement and configure our software at our customer sites.

As part of our team you will apply some of the latest technologies and practice your prioritization skills in an environment that is placing high expectations towards your productivity and on the quality of your software.

  • Provide technical leadership to an agile team of 4-6 team members
  • Translate requirements / vision into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards
  • Work with Product Line Leaders and architects to develop multi generation software technology plans
  • Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, software and product security, scalability, documentation practices, refactoring and testing techniques
  • Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
  • Engage in technical discussions and design/code reviews, share information across the team

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • You have a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Medical IT or similar discipline
  • You gained significant experience in software development related to .NET/C# and other Microsoft technologies like WCF, WPF, WinForms, Entity Framework, MEF, LINQ or XAML within an enterprise level software environment
  • You have a good understanding of design patterns, SOLID principal and OO design
  • You have deep knowledge on SQL, database technologies and concepts (especially Microsoft SQL Server), IIS, XML, distributed systems and AOP
  • You have experience with test driven development and unit test frameworks
  • You have excellent problem solving/analytical skills
  • You are proactive, have a deep sense of planning and organization and find it easy to estimate and prioritize your tasks
  • You have a high level of quality awareness
  • You are open minded and flexible and see new tasks as a welcomed challenge
  • You are fluent in English
